January is School Board Appreciation Month
January is School Board Recognition Month and a time to recognize the important contributions that school board members make to their communities. Our schools benefit every day from the dedicated energies and countless hours devoted by these hard working individuals. Their contribution of time and talents toward the advancement of public education should be recognized and celebrated year-round.
National Board Certifications
Congratulations to teachers Jennifer Galloway, Samantha Osteen, and Erica Starr for recently earning National Board Certification. The certification process is based on high and rigorous standards that evaluate teaching practice through performance-based assessments. National board standards represent what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. We are very proud of all our national board certified teachers for their accomplishments!
Golden Apple Winner
“Her class is never boring!”—That’s just one of the things that students say about Sara Cathey of Rosman High School, named a WYFF News Golden Apple Winner for December 2019. Congratulations to Ms. Cathey for making learning fun, challenging, and rewarding every day.
TCSEF Creative Classroom Grant Awards for 2020-2021
The following projects totaling over $18,000 have been recommended to be funded for the 2020-2021 year through the Transylvania County Schools Educational Foundation Creative Classroom Grants. The competitive grants are part of the funding that the Foundation makes available each year to enrich classrooms, provide scholarships, fund student leadership opportunities, and support teacher leadership initiatives. We appreciate TCSEF’s efforts with the annual Taste of Transylvania fundraiser and the work of the Grants Committee, which this year evaluated 53 proposals. Recipients will have up to 18 months to use the grant money. Congratulations to all!
