B. Budget Amendment Request - Legislatively Mandated Salary Schedules

Subsequent to the approval of the TCS FY27 Budget, Governor Stein signed Senate Bill 257 into law on July 7, 2026, enacting North Carolina’s first state budget in over two years. The legislation mandated an average 8% raise for teachers, a 3% increase for state employees, and bonuses for both groups. Superintendent Dr. Lisa Fletcher will review the financial shortfalls created by the legislatively mandated salary schedules and will seek Board approval to make a budget amendment request to the Board of Commissioners. Please see Dr. Fletcher's posted presentation materials for more detailed information.

A motion is in order to authorize a budget amendment request to the Board of Commissioners.
