National IT Professionals Day
National IT Professionals Day was celebrated this year on September 15th. We would like to recognize our Transylvania County Schools’ IT staff, who are the often unseen and underappreciated professionals working behind the scenes to take care of our most critical functions. In short, we can do what we do because of what they do.

Brevard High School – Friday Night 5G Lights
T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights campaign is back for the 2026 season, and we are thrilled to announce that Brevard High School was once again selected as a weekly winning school! For the win, BHS was awarded $5,000.00 to support its football program and ongoing initiatives. School spirit plays in a huge role in the contest, so we would like to thank our community for their “winning” support.
Attendance Awareness Month
September is National Attendance Awareness Month, an initiative in North Carolina and across the nation designed to highlight the importance of consistent school attendance. We salute the TCS staff who work hard every day to address district-wide chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of instructional days) and who help families to recognize the direct correlation between regular attendance and academic achievement. National Arts in Education Week
This year, National Arts in Education Week was celebrated September 13-19, 2026. Arts education is comprised of a rich array of disciplines, including dance, music, theater, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts. The arts are an essential part of a complete education, and students of all ages benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. For all they do to enrich our students’ lives, we thank our arts educators, and we also thank our community for their continued support of arts programs in our schools.
#TeachAG Day
National #TeachAg Day was celebrated this year on September 17th. The purpose of this nationally recognized day is to officially identify and celebrate the pivotal role of school-based agriculture education, which equips students with a diverse skill set rooted in science, mathematics, communications, leadership, technology, and business management. Agriculture teachers are community leaders and role models, who help students develop the skills to become leaders themselves, inspiring this year’s National Association of Agricultural Educator’s (NAAE) theme, “Unlock Your Potential.”
Fall Sports
We wanted to give a quick reminder about the Fall sports that are happening right now. Between Brevard and Rosman Middle and High schools, we currently have cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, volleyball, and cheerleading underway. The game schedules may be found on each school’s website. We encourage the entire community to come out and support our fantastic student athletes!
Constitution Day
September 17th is Constitution Day in the United States. It commemorates the September 17, 1787, signing of the United States Constitution by the Constitutional Convention delegates. Nearly 240 years later, the Constitution is still the supreme law of the land. It governs daily life in America, establishes the framework of our government, and protects our fundamental rights and freedoms.
