Board policy 2200, Election of Officers/Organization of Board, states that the board will elect a chairperson and a vice-chairperson to serve for a term of one year or until his or her successor is elected and qualified by taking the oath of office. An organizational meeting for the election of officers will be held at the regularly scheduled December meeting of the board and as often thereafter as the board determines appropriate. The chairman would like to suspend the election of officers until the January meeting. Policy 2450, Suspension of Board Policies, allows the temporary suspension of any section or sections of board policies by a majority vote of board members present at a meeting. Policies 2200 and 2450 are attached.

Pursuant to board policy 2450, a motion would be in order to suspend the election of officers in accordance with policy 2200 until no later than January 2020.
