Two community input sessions were scheduled in June at Brevard High School and Rosman High School. Architects from Clark Nexsen gathered feedback from stakeholders regarding what programs and features they would like to see for 21st century high schools.
PROCESS:
I. Advanced Planning
- History (Fall 2017 - Spring 2018)
- Facilities Assessment (Fall 2017- Spring 2018)
- Inventory of existing spaces
- Compare with DPI recommendations for student population and conditions of spaces
- How much would it cost to bring it up to standards?
- Information Gathering & Vision (Spring 2018)
- What do we need?
- What makes us unique?
- What is important to the school and its culture?

As a reminder, the Local Government Commission (LGC) recommends a 120-day process for approval for a ballot measure. Each of these steps are required, including public hearings.
- BOE passes resolution and makes a written request to the commissioners. Done
- Basics of what the bond will cover are clarified. Done
- County hires bond attorney. Done
- County applies to the LGC with the costs of the bond. Done
- LGC approves (assuming).
- Measure is placed on ballot.
- Public hearings and meetings held to promote the bond.
- Measure passes or not at election.
