Governor’s School
Three students from Brevard High School have been invited to attend the 2017 North Carolina Governor’s School.  Matthew Bailey has been selected in the area of French; Ingrid Findley has been selected in the area of Natural Science; and Crista Cali has been selected in the area of Social Science.  Students who accept the invitation will attend a five-and-a-half week session this summer.    
 
National Library Week
National Library Week 2017 will be observed April 9-15 with the theme, “Libraries Transform.”  It is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries and school media centers.  We greatly appreciate our school librarians for their creativity and dedication and all that they do to educate children. 
 
Public School Volunteer Week
The week of April 17-21, 2017 is Public School Volunteer Week, a time to honor and thank our many dedicated volunteers for their contributions to our schools.  From donating time to assisting with classroom and school activities, volunteers in our community play an important role in our schools.

Ressie Owen, Grace Owen, Jenna Odomm and Cullen Duval  have qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference this summer in Anaheim, CA.  Also, Jamie Barton (RHS Class of 2013) gave a short speech as the North Carolina FBLA-PBL President.  She joined the college version of FBLA (Phi Beta Lambda) at Barton College and has worked her way up to state president of the organization.
