BHS Student to Perform in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Hannah Austin, BHS, has been selected to perform in the 2008 Macy’s Great American Marching Band at the 82nd Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade held in New York City.  Students from every state in the nation are selected for this honor.  This is the opportunity of a lifetime to represent Brevard High School and the State of North Carolina!

 

Duke Energy Foundation

Once again the Duke Energy Foundation has donated $1,500 to Transylvania County Schools.  This annual gift is used to support math and science projects in the schools.

Closed Session

Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(1) and 115C-319, the Transylvania County Board of Education will go into closed session to discuss information that is not a public record (employee personnel files).

 

Memorial Report

The Board of Education memorializes deceased students, employees, and spouse, parents or children of an employee.  The memorial is in the form of a donation to the Education Foundation or a book that is placed in the media center of the school most closely associated with the deceased.

 

The book, Alaska Atlas & Gazetteer, will be placed in the Rosman High School media center in memory of Calvin Raxter, father of Tammy Moman.  Tammy is a teacher at RHS.

The NCHSAA requires local boards to grant permission to employ non-faculty individuals as head coaches of varsity or junior varsity teams.  As a general practice, the Transylvania County Board of Education approves all volunteer and contract coaches for Transylvania County Schools.  John Tinsley will request approval of the following coaches for 2008-2009 fall sports.  Additional names may be presented at future meetings.
